This key position in Nick Clegg’s team, reporting directly to the Party’s Chief Executive Chris Rennard, will develop the public profile of the Liberal Democrats, leading on communications issues and policy direction while providing strategic advice, PR planning and execution.
Key requirements are:
- Front line communications and media experience
- Stamina, clarity of thought and ability to react under pressure
- Good understanding of Press Gallery and political campaigning
- Experience of managing and leading communications teams
- Proven ability to work in a political environment with senior political colleagues
Commitment to political objectives and campaigns of the Liberal Democrats is essential.

Based at the National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff
Salary starting from £17,444 pa.
Main Duties:
Prepare press releases, briefing notes and any other documents required by the member, draft and table Assembly Questions.
Conduct research into areas of policy as relevant, collate and analyse data and prepare reports and speeches.
Manage the Member’s diary, deal with media enquiries, correspondence and telephone enquiries
Update and manage the website Deal with selected items of casework, liaising closely with constituency office staff
Must have:
Excellent ICT and written and oral communication skills
Be efficient and organised, able to work independently and as party of a team, under pressure and to tight deadlines
An understanding of current affairs and issues of relevance to Wales, an interest in the Welsh political system
Flexibility with regard to workload and a willingness to acquire new skills
Must not be a member or active supporter of any other political party
Highly Desirable:
Ability to work in the Welsh language, knowledge of North Wales
Good political research skills and an understanding of the function of the Welsh National Assembly and of the current political climate
Supportive of the Welsh Liberal Democrats
You will be based at the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff Bay.
37 ½ hour week.
Salary starting from £17,444 pa.
23 days holiday a year.

Jenny Willott MP and Cardiff Lib Dems are looking for a Constituency Campaign Organiser to work alongside other campaign staff and the enthusiastic campaign team to lead and co-ordinate campaigning across Cardiff.
Your role is varied and will include developing and overseeing implementation of the Cardiff campaign plan, monitoring local activities, liaising with caseworkers to identify issues of importance to Cardiff, collating research and information for campaigns and producing campaign materials.
You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to plan strategically and oversee the implementation of campaign plans. Strong IT skills are essential, as is experience of organising campaigns.
