BIOGRAPHY

Mark joined the LibDems in 2001 and became politically active following the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the introduction of top up fees. Mark has been an active campaigner with a strong record for several years.

Mark moved to Preston in 1986 after graduating from Thames Polytechnic, London with an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Management. Mark works in the local Aerospace industry.

Mark is a local Councillor on Preston City Council. As a Councillor, Mark has continued to campaign on a broad basis, and has led the way, for example, by persuading the Council to adopt his policy of supporting the introduction of 20mph zones in residential areas, without necessarily resorting to humps and bumps in the road.

Mark is married to Jenny and they have three children. In his spare time, Mark enjoys cooking and spending time with his family and friends. He ran the London Marathon in 2006 in 4hrs 23 mins raising funds for the Macmillan Nurses. He also joined friends to complete the Three Peaks in under 24 hours (just) in the summer 2007.
