BIOGRAPHY
Ronnie Fearn was born on 2 February 1931 and attended King George V Grammar School, Southport, of which he is now a governor.
His career has been entirely in banking apart from the two years where he served in the Royal Navy. In 1987 he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Southport. He stood down in 2001 and became a member of the House of Lords.
He was first elected to Southport Borough Council in 1963 and has retained his Councillorship right through to the present, holding positions of Liberal Democrat Group Leader on Southport Borough Council, Merseyside County Council and Sefton Metro Borough Council.
Ronnie Fearn has been a Voluntary Youth Leader in Southport for 21 years.
He has held many Parliamentary positions, including Liberal Democrat spokesman for England, Transport, Health, Tourism, Local Government and Housing. He has also held positions in the Liberal Democrat Federal Policy, Conference, and North West Regional Committees.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. His membership of the North West Tourist Board is also chartered. He holds positions in Sport, Arts, Careers and many charities. His hobbies are amateur dramatics, sport and unsurprisingly people politics.
He is married to Joyce and has two children. In 1985 he received the OBE for services to the Community.
