Jane Brophy, her husband John (a computer specialist) and their three children have lived in Altrincham for nearly two decades. She has had 8 years experience as an elected Councillor in Trafford Metropolitan Borough, representing the needs of the residents of Village Ward. She was the campaign manager in Timperley ward that elected Cllr Neil Taylor in 2006. As an NHS worker and school governor for 15 years she believes all people should have the chance to reach their potential through well resourced health and educational services.
Jane is an active member of the Green Liberal Democrats and former Vice-Chair. She was the last Chair of the Young Liberals and has been a keen Liberal Democrat since the Party began. She has played many roles within the Lib Dems including being an elected member of Federal Policy & Conference Committees, Chair of the Animal Protection Group and Chair of her Local Party. Jane is passionate about the environment especially working to combat climate change, and is well known locally as the owner of the first domestic wind turbine in the area!
Jane currently works part-time for Wigan Primary Care Trust (PCT) as the Sure Start Dietitian. She is a Biochemistry graduate from the University of Leeds and NHS Health Professional in Nutrition and Dietetics.
