Paul Kennedy

Candidate for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock

General Election - 4 July 2024

Paul Kennedy

South Ayrshire is the ancestral home of Clan Kennedy, and Paul Kennedy is thrilled to be returning as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock constituency.

Paul is a science graduate, and a former barrister, accountant and actuary with professional leadership experience in both private and public sectors, across the UK and abroad. He has worked in Westminster, at HM Treasury, and for UK financial regulators, undertaking public reviews and taking legislation through Parliament.

Paul understands the need for fair, sustainable solutions to local people’s problems. He has worked in local government, and helped develop the pensions triple lock which was first championed by the Liberal Democrats.

Paul believes Ayrshire has been taken for granted by both the SNP and the Conservatives, and desperately needs a fair deal and a stronger voice at Westminster, which only a Liberal Democrat MP will deliver.

One of Paul's ancestors notoriously roasted an opponent until he signed over his claim. Paul won't be doing that, but he will be holding the other parties' feet to the fire. He will be a strong, experienced, professional voice for Ayrshire at Westminster.
