Mark Durrant

Mark is a Councillor and Media Executive who lives in New Malden, in South West London, with his wife, a Tutor, and former Maths Teacher. He is standing for the constituency of Chipping Barnet as he believes a change is desperately needed after years of chaos. He believes in the Lib Dem vision of a fair deal for all. He also understands the issues around living in an outer London borough. He is a passionate believer in local communities working together for the common good. He was honoured to be re-elected to serve his community after running a successful campaign with the local party in a special election in 2022. He believes in housing with good planning and good access to doctors, dentists, and good schooling. He is proud to be part of an administration in Kingston that is building the largest number of new council houses for over 40 years. He serves on the committee that is overseeing this near £1 Billion renewal of the Cambridge Road Housing Estate in Kingston. He also served on the Corporate and Resources Committee which oversees the budgeting for the council,the pension panel, and the Children and Adult Social Care and Education Committee. Within his own ward he has overseen a significant expansion of EV charging, improvements in local parks, and the local train station, and the building of a new Junior School.

He is a seasoned campaigner having won his own seat twice. He is well known to local residents, and this has come about by being an active member of his local community, regular canvassing, and intelligent use of social media to get across key wins and local news.

He has had a near 30 year career in Advertising in major media companies. More recently a technology start-up, and so understands the importance of small business to growing our economy.

He has 3 grown up children, and a new grandchild in 2023.
