Alec Dauncey

Candidate for Clwyd East

General Election - 4 July 2024

Alec Dauncey

Alec has a strong connection with the constituency. His parents lived in Ruthin for more than thirty-five years, and his first job was as a Forest Worker in a local forest. Alec is an active professional forester who has worked in forestry and the environment all his working life. He has seen how things work, and do not work, in Whitehall and the Senedd, and has the experience to try to get things done. Alec has been involved in Liberal politics since he was a teenager, and has stood for Westminster and the European Parliament.

Alec cares passionately about our health service and about rural affairs in Wales – but recognises we need to hold our Senedd to account on these. MPs in Wales shouldn’t claim they can fix things they are not responsible for. Representing the voters of Clwyd East in Parliament has to be about fixing Britain as a whole.

For Alec the key is a Fair Deal – so much has become broken and unfair.

He wants to see a UK government get to grips with economic fairness, and fight issues like child poverty. There needs to be strong action for a greener, more innovative economy, and real climate action.

Economic well-being and security mean we should work together much more closely to rebuild our economic and other relations with our European Union allies and neighbours, in an increasingly uncertain world. These may be steps towards eventually rejoining the European Union.
