Penelope James

Candidate for Dover and Deal

General Election - 4 July 2024

Penelope James

Penelope James is a strong campaigner, hard-working and honest. She has lived in the constituency for almost 25 years and ran her own very successful Communications Consultancy during this time.

Penelope is committed to serving her community. She has been a parish councillor for 8 years, Chair of South Kent Mind (the mental health charity) and Vice-Chair of Governors for a local secondary school. She is very involved in the local community where she lives, sitting on a range of committees and campaigning locally on environmental issues.

Penelope has also been a vocal campaigner for the broader community of Dover & Deal on issues from ensuring the blood testing clinic in Victoria Hospital, Deal is reinstated, to leading the Dover & Deal Liberal Democrat campaign against the creation of an Internal Border Facility at Dover.

Penelope’s priorities are to fight for a fairer, greener and more prosperous Dover & Deal constituency for everyone. She pledges to listen to local people and put them first. Specifically, she is campaigning for urgent action to cut the cost-of-living crisis, ensure everyone has access to see a GP and dentist, build more social houses and homes that are properly insulated, and protect our environment, including putting an end to the sewage scandal and making water companies clean up their act.
