Lesley Rollings
Candidate for Gainsborough
General Election - 4 July 2024
Lesley Rollings is the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Gainsborough County Constituency. She is a strong, local and hardworking campaigner who is currently deputy leader of the council, where the Liberal Democrats took control last May.
Most recently she has taken a leading role in the council's challenge to the government over the housing of 2000 migrants on the former RAF Scampton site, riding roughshod over the Council's 300 million pound project planned for the site.
She is currently engaged in work with partners to prevent flooding in the constituency and has fought campaigns to retain a local hospital, local bus routes and see improvements in policing.
Lesley is passionate about skills and employment, where she brings to bear her extensive experience as a teacher and most recently working for the national STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) project. She is West Lindsey District Council's representative on the Nuclear Fusion project planned for the power stations.
Lesley is determined, through her work to make the constituency a place that people want to live and work and has been working to re-instate development around Sport, the Arts and Culture. Lesley strongly believes that the community should be at the heart of politics and would like to see adequate levels of local government funding restored to enable high quality public services to be delivered. She believes the government must act faster to introduce laws that will enable local councils to insist on building standards that will help us achieve our aims around the climate much faster.
Lesley has lived in the constituency for 34 years, bringing up three children who all went to school locally.
