George Sykes

Candidate for Leeds South

General Election - 4 July 2024

George Sykes

George Sykes is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Leeds South. Currently a Software Engineer at a prominent tech company based in Leeds, George brings a wealth of experience from his previous role in social media moderation, where he ensured online spaces were free from extremist and hateful content.

George has a strong background in community activism. He helped organise Reclaim The Night Leeds, a campaign group working to improve safety for women and non-binary people at night. His commitment to social justice and community safety is evident in his work and personal experiences.

One of George’s top priorities is improving policing and tackling anti-social behaviour in Leeds South. Having been a victim of mugging himself, George understands firsthand the stress and challenges victims face during police investigations. This personal experience drives his passion for better support systems for victims and more effective policing.

George's campaign focuses on several key issues: enhancing local policing, cutting the cost of living, and combating climate change. He believes that the Liberal Democrats offer a fresh and fair deal for Leeds South, distinct from the status quo.

With his blend of professional experience, community activism, and personal commitment to the issues, George Sykes represents a strong and capable choice for Leeds South. He is ready to bring meaningful change and dedicated representation to his community.
