Helen Belcher

Candidate for Reading West and Mid Berkshire

General Election - 4 July 2024

Helen Belcher

Helen was born and raised in Reading, and has over 50 years' continuous connection with Reading and Mid Berkshire. She is a nationally recognised campaigner, giving evidence to the Leveson Inquiry into press standards in 2012, and being awarded an OBE in December 2022.

Helen worked as a teacher, as a systems analyst, as a manager and as an entrepreneur, building a successful business from scratch over 15 years.

Helen's focus is on improving our NHS and public services, taking care of our environment, and fairness and respect for all; taking stands against Conservative cuts and "culture wars". She has a reputation for listening and then developing and delivering practical solutions.

Helen is very different from your standard politician, and has been described by Newbury Today as "charming ... with a glint of steel in her eye" - someone who is not afraid to ask difficult questions of powerful people, exactly the sort of person to be our next MP.
