Richard Dickson

Candidate for Rugby

General Election - 4 July 2024

Richard Dickson

Richard was born in Warwickshire and returned to live in the county more than 30 years ago. His three children were each educated in state schools in the county and Richard's 40+ years work experience has seen him work in business, in the not-for-profit sector and, most recently, in higher education. Two members of his immediate family work in the NHS so he's firsthand knowledge of the issues facing our health and care services. Participation in local community life has always been fundamental for Richard and he's been Chair of his local primary School's governors, a church warden and Chair of his local community centre. In 2020 he helped set up a new charity to coordinate his home town's response to the social isolation caused by the pandemic. For the past five years Richard has been a Warwick District Councillor where he's championed better access to green spaces and play areas, more transparent cross-party working in the Council and more community infrastructure when new properties are built. 'All I want to do is bring people together so that by working with each other we can help make communities in the Rugby area even better places in which to live and work. It's time to restore the golden rule that says that our children and grandchildren will be better off - economically, socially, culturally and healthwise - than we have been.'
