Graham Oakes

Candidate for Staffordshire Moorlands

General Election - 4 July 2024

Graham Oakes

Graham Oakes is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Staffordshire Moorlands. Graham has a track record as a campaigner and has significant experience as a councillor.

Too many MPs are career politicians, with little or no understanding of life in the real world. By contrast Graham is a Nurse, qualifying in 1987. During his time in the NHS he became a Charge Nurse of a Stoke Unit. He later moved into Social Care, managing both care homes and home care. At present he is a manager of a care home specialising in the care of people living with dementia.

For Graham, Improving health and social care is a personal priority, particularly ambulance response times and the suffering this can cause, which he has witnessed at first hand. The shortage of GPs, Nurses and Dentists is a national crisis with local effects and must be tackled as a priority.

The state of local roads has changed from an annoyance to a real danger in some places. Graham believes this is the direct consequence of under investment in our infrastructure.

“Staffordshire Moorlands is a beautiful area but behind the picturesque views are pockets of rural poverty. The next MP must be someone who listens and acts for local people.”
