Mark Clayton

Candidate for Stretford and Urmston

General Election - 4 July 2024

Mark Clayton

Mark Clayton is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Stretford and Urmston. Mark is a former councillor in Manchester during three decades, where he was instrumental in the major expand expansion of Metrolink 2009 - 2014 and remains keenly interested in improving transport, especially public transport.

Now retired a retired public company director Mark knows that issues that affect older residents, especially the NHS, but also pensions and care are increasingly important.

Mark has also campaigned on civil liberties and human rights since a student and is passionately opposed to attempts to quit the European Court of Human Rights.

Mark's top priorities for Stretford and Urmston are improving Health Care and rectifying Trafford Council's dire finances that threaten the provision of vital services to residents from bins, to care, housing, parks and schools.
