Stewart Golton

Candidate for Wakefield and Rothwell

General Election - 4 July 2024

Stewart Golton

Stewart lives in Rothwell and is a popular local councillor who has served the community for 26 years. He has a record of taking on those in power to stand up for local people. He has campaigned against HS2, fought care home closures, and the sell off of local community assets. Most recently Stewart has campaigned for bigger neighbourhood policing teams, reversing bus service cuts, and defending the needs of disabled people to access local highways and greenspaces. Stewart has worked in the energy and travel industries, is a school governor and is on the board of a charity delivering services for adults with learning difficulties. In Parliament, Stewart wants to guarantee better access to NHS GP and dental services in Wakefield and Rothwell, the end of sewage dumped in the Aire and Calder rivers, and protecting our greenbelt from unsuitable development. Stewart wants to use his experience in local government to work with local councils to invest in our local environment, high streets and industrial heritage to create new jobs and tackle the climate crisis. He will also work crossparty to lobby for more money and powers to our region to tackle the cost of living crisis, build affordable homes in the right places, and get a better deal for carers.
