Sustainability
The Liberal Democrats wish to minimise the impact of Federal Conference and strive to be more sustainable.
Sustainability policies:
Harrogate Convention Centre
- super-efficient heating system saves the atmosphere from 1,400 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually
- prioritise sourcing from local suppliers, showcasing the best of Yorkshire
- utilises compostable, plant-based PLA materials for cups, cutlery, and much of their sandwich and salad packaging
- Harrogate Water, their bottled water supplier, features glass bottles that use 50% recycled content and PET bottles that use more than 51% UK-sourced, post-consumer recycled content (rPET). All their bottles including labels and caps are 100% recyclable
- 90% of waste generated by our events is diverted from landfill

How can you be more sustainable?
- Use public transport to get to and from the conference.
- If you are unable to use public transport, please try to car share by reaching out to your local party/ social media
- Use the agenda & directory online instead of paying for a hard copy
- Use the conference app instead of paying for a hard copy agenda & directory
- Bring your own water bottle and refill at the complimentary water stations in the venues
- Bring your own reusable, clean coffee cup (must be in good condition) which you can use when purchasing your coffee at the main venue. Alternatively buy a reusable cup at the Lib Dem Image exhibition stand
- Recycle any plastics, paper etc in the recycling bins at the official venues
- Go vegan/ vegetarian - eat plant based food
Other items to note
- Exhibitors are encouraged to take home their unused leaflets to use at future events
