Dr Al Pinkerton
MP for Surrey Heath
Europe Spokesperson
Al was born in Scotland and now lives in the Heatherside ward of Surrey Heath with his wife and their two sons.
Before entering politics, Al was an Associate Professor at Royal Holloway, University of London. His academic work focused on geopolitics, development, security, and justice - interests he has continued to bring into his work in Parliament, particularly in his role as Europe Spokesperson.
Above all, however, Al’s role as the Member of Parliament for Surrey Heath is about serving the community he calls home. He is committed to working collaboratively across the political spectrum, sharing the best ideas, planning for the long term, and delivering outcomes for his constituents and the wider public. His key priorities for this Parliament include the rebuild of Frimley Park Hospital, improving SEND provision, and investing in transport infrastructure.
As Al puts it:
“I drive over the same potholes, sit in the same traffic, use the same schools, commute on the same trains, and spend my weekends in the same shopping centres. I rely on the same local businesses. I understand the issues constituents face every day - and I will always do my best to represent them in Parliament.”
