Ed Davey set to learn ‘FIFA’ from young carers on TikTok Live

19 Dec 2024

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Leader of the Liberal Democrats Ed Davey will begin his journey towards becoming an expert practitioner of EA FC (colloquially known as FIFA) on Thursday, as he continues his campaign for the Prime Minister to agree to a 1v1.

Well, sort of.

Ed Davey will be shown the ropes of how to play the video game by a group of young carers from London live on TikTok, as they discuss the challenges young carers face.

The livestream, hosted by Metro, will continue Ed’s campaign to raise Love is Enough to the top of the charts in time for Christmas as the countdown ticks down to midnight, when the race to number one ends.

Love is Enough was written by six young carers and former young carers, part of the Bath Philharmonia Young Carers’ Choir. All proceeds raised will go to the Bath Philharmonia Orchestra and Carers Trust.

Commenting, Ed Davey said:

“As we reach the finishing stages of the race for Christmas number one, I’m saying goodbye to Subbuteo and hello to PlayStation.

“I’m delighted to be learning how to play under the expert guidance of young carers from London. Young carers’ time is precious, and I know from my time caring for my mum as a teenager that activities to give them a break are so important.

“It has been such an honour spending so much time with young carers over the past few months, learning about their lives and campaigning with them to raise awareness for young carers across the country.”

Notes to Editor:

Ed will be live streaming from Metro’s TikTok account on the afternoon of Thursday 19th December. He will be joined by young carers, and reporters from the outlet.
