‘Love is Enough’ surges into the Top 10 of the iTunes charts as Ed Davey’s Christmas No. 1 bid gathers momentum

The Bath Philharmonia Young Carers’ Choir and Ed Davey’s bid to reach Christmas Number 1 is gathering momentum after ‘Love is Enough’ has surged to number 6 in the iTunes chart today (30th November).

The song, which celebrates young carers, has already received critical acclaim with influential pop culture journalist Hannah Verdier calling the song “really really beautiful” on Radio 4’s World at One earlier this week. Gareth Malone, the choirmaster from the popular TV series The Choir, also praised the song on BBC Breakfast describing it as “powerful” and “a really sweet thing to do”.

It should come as no surprise that critics are lauding the track. It is produced by Brian Rawling, the person who produced the legendary Cher’s Believe which earned him a Grammy.

‘Love is Enough’ is now matching this critical acclaim with success in the charts, breaking into the iTunes top 10 today as the chances for the song to reach No. 1 at Christmas heat up.

The idea of a Christmas release was Ed Davey’s - inspired by his own time as a chorister when he was also a young carer as a teenager. Recently he was sent a recording of him singing a solo at a Christmas carol service with his choir in 1978 as a 13-year-old and after hearing ‘Love is Enough’ and the work of the amazing young carers with Bath Philharmonia, he asked if they would like to work together to release a single at Christmas for the Carers Trust and Bath Phil.

As a carer for his Mum when he was a teenager and now for his severely disabled son John, Ed Davey wanted to shine a light on carers this Christmas and bring attention to the vital work that they do. All money raised from downloads and streams of the charity single will go to the Carers Trust and Bath Phil.
