CQC report on health and care reveals "devastating impact" of govt neglect

20 Oct 2023

EMBARGOED UNTIL 00:01 Friday 20 Oct 2023

Responding to the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC’s) annual assessment of health and social care in England, which heard from someone who had extracted their own tooth because they couldn't find an NHS dentist, Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson Daisy Cooper MP said:

"This damning report shows the devastating impact of the Conservative government's neglect of the NHS and care on people's lives.

"People are resorting to DIY dentistry in desperation, while the elderly face poor quality social care and patients are left waiting for hours on end in A&E.

"Ministers need to stop burying their heads in the sand when it comes to the state of our health and care in our country. The LiberalDemocrats have set out bold proposals to fix the NHS and care, including paying social care workers properly, providing free personal care and ensuring people can see a GP within a week. It's time the government listened."
