Daisy Cooper: Government's promise of new hospitals isn't worth the paper it's written on

26 May 2023

EMBARGO: IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Responding to a BBC investigation that has found 33 of the 40 promised new hospitals are yet to be built, Liberal DemocratHealth spokesperson Daisy Cooper MP said:

“This is further proof that the Conservative Government's promise of new hospitals isn't worth the paper it's written on.

“Millions of patients are being treated in hospital buildings with dangerous roofs at risk of collapse - this is a disaster waiting to happen.

"NHS staff have continuously warned crumbling NHS buildings could have a potentially catastrophic impact and put patient safety at risk, but this Government has still not listened.

"Conservative Health Ministers owe communities  across the country an apology for failing to even begin the process of building these long-promised hospitals despite the danger facing patients."
