DWP Investigation: Reforms to benefits have made no progress

22 May 2024

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Responding to the news that Equality and Human Rights Commission is investigating the Department of Work and Pensions over claims it broke the law of their treatment of disabled benefits claimants, Liberal Democrat Work and Pensions Spokesperson Wendy Chamberlain MP said:

"This investigation just shows that the proposed reforms to disability benefits were just a cynical attempt to cut the benefit bill without considering how to actually support those who are less able or not able to work.

"If the Government was serious about making progress they would invest in the NHS and cut waiting times."
