Ed Davey goes on Blue Wall Bonanza with electoral showdown in under a week
As the local election campaign reaches its climax Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey is heading out on a blue wall bonanza tour, visiting key target councils across the country before polls close.
Ed will travel the country on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the final stretch of the local election campaign. He will visit a number of seats in the Blue Wall, including Stockport, Esher and Walton, Lewes and Eastbourne.
Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey has said that former Conservative voters are in “open revolt” against Rishi Sunak’s Government.
Commenting Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said:
“In the final stretch of the campaign the momentum is with us. In hundreds of council seats across the ‘Blue Wall’, the Liberal Democrats are the opposition and the only party that can deliver a major blow to this out of touch Conservative Government in May.
“Voters are sick to their back teeth with this Conservative government’s terrible record. They have failed the nation on the cost of living, local health services and sewage dumping. People feel it’s time for a change and that Liberal Democrats are best placed to deliver that.
“With the government desperate to avoid any more by-elections and shock defeats, this election is set to be the final real test before the General Election. We are seeing former Conservative voters in open revolt against this Government with more and more turning to the Liberal Democrats in former true blue heartlands."
