8 Jul 2024

EMBARGO: 22:30 Sunday 7th July

Commenting ahead of welcoming the new 72-strong group of Liberal Democrat MPs to Parliament today (Monday 8th July), Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said:

"Today the Liberal Democrats get back to work, standing up for communities across the country.

"We will be the champions of the NHS, care and the environment, which have been left in a state of crisis by the Conservatives.

"I am humbled to be leading the largest third party in a century. Millions of people have put their trust in the Liberal Democrats. We will not let them down.

"Tomorrow, 72 Liberal Democrat MPs will enter Parliament to call for an Emergency Health and Care Budget. We hope that the new government will listen to this call and act."
