Ed Davey’s 2024 Christmas message to celebrate young carers

24 Dec 2024

EMBARGO: 00:01 Tuesday 24 December

Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey’s Christmas message will celebrate the role of young carers during the festive season.

It comes following Ed Davey’s bid for Christmas number one which saw him join together with the Bath Philharmonia Young Carers’ Choir to shine a spotlight on young carers.  Their single ‘Love is Enough’ was written by six young carers and touched on the vital role these young people play in looking after family members.

Ed’s Christmas message also features a clip of him performing ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ with the Bath Philharmonia Orchestra at their Christmas concert in Bath earlier this month. During the concert he also performed ‘Love is Enough’ with the Young Carers’ Choir to a packed out audience at The Forum.

In his Christmas message for 2024, Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey MP will say:

“On behalf of everyone at the Liberal Democrats, can I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas.

“I hope you are enjoying this wonderful time of year with your loved ones. The lights, the gifts, the songs.

“This year, I’ve had the chance to spend time with some amazing young carers. Incredible young people who will spend this Christmas doing what they do all year round; looking after loved ones who are ill or disabled.

“Carers embody the Christmas spirit of love, selflessness and generosity. So I hope we can all take some time to think of them, and keep them in our hearts. And wish them – and everyone – a Christmas full of peace, joy and love.”
