GDP fall: Scrap budget before more damage is done

Responding to ONS figures showing GDP fell by 0.3% in August, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Sarah Olney MP said:
“Today’s figures simply underline that the Conservatives haven’t a how to grow the economy. The only growth people are seeing is in their mortgage bill and the cost of the weekly food shop.
“Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng have completely mismanaged the public finances, causing mortgage pain for millions and putting peoples’ pensions at risk. The Chancellor needs to scrap his ill-thought mini-budget now, before our economy takes an even bigger hit.”
