GDP Stats: Still no growth

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Responding to the latest GDP statistics from the ONS which shows the UK economy contracted by 0.1% in May, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Sarah Olney MP said:

"The Conservative party’s economic track record speaks for itself: the worst cost-of-living crisis in generations, mortgage rates through the roof, and the economy at a standstill. Worst of all, ministers haven’t got a clue how to fix their own mess.

"The UK needs a Government with a serious plan to get our economy back on track – by helping people with the cost-of-living crisis, tackling inflation and investing in our vital public services. It’s high time Ministers stopped wishing the crisis away and took action."
