Highest insolvency figures since 2009: This Govt has no economic credibility

Responding to the latest ONS insolvency statistics, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson, Sarah Olney MP said: 

“These shocking statistics show we are in the midst of a full blown financial crisis. 

“These are not just numbers, they are valued local businesses like pubs and restaurants, whose closure will be felt in communities across the country. 

“This Conservative Government has an economic record which can only be described as shambolic. They have condemned British businesses to soaring energy costs and rampant inflation whilst leaving them laden with red tape, giving many no choice but to close their doors. 

“With existing business energy support set to be slashed in April, Jeremy Hunt must urgently reconsider his plans to give businesses the reassurance they need and prevent this economic catastrophe from spiralling.”
