Homelessness stats: Lib Dems call for end to homelessness this Parliament

28 Nov 2024

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Responding to the latest figures for homelessness, Liberal Democrat Housing, Communities and Local Government spokesperson, Vikki Slade MP said:

“It is completely heartbreaking to hear that so many families and children will be without a safe, warm place to call home, or on the streets as we enter the winter months.

“The previous Conservative Government ignored the fact that so many are forced to sleep rough and go without the support that they so desperately need, not least with their broken promise to ban no fault evictions.

“We are urging the new Government to finally address this awful situation, by coming forward with a cross-Whitehall plan to end all forms of homelessness within this Parliament - starting with more support for councils to help families using temporary accommodation.”
