16 Aug 2024

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Responding to the news that the government has announced it will push ahead with compensation payments to infected blood victims, Liberal Democrat Cabinet Office Spokesperson Christine Jardine MP said:

"Our thoughts are with those whose lives have been torn apart by this disaster. This scandal has cruelly cost too many people their lives.

"Governments of all stripes over decades owe them all a sincere apology for this delayed justice.

"This announcement is welcome and it is critical that the government pays full and fair compensation to the victims and their families as quickly as possible, as well as implementing the Inquiry’s other recommendations to prevent terrible scandals like this from ever happening again."
