NHS productivity: Patients cannot afford any more “dither and delay” on reform
EMBARGO: Immediate Release
Responding to the latest ONS statistics, which show that healthcare productivity is 18.5% lower than it was in 2019, Liberal Democrat Health and Social Care spokesperson Helen Morgan MP said:
“Patients are bearing the brunt of a health service that has lurched from crisis to crisis for years. Crises that have resulted in the horrifying scenes of corridor care becoming normalised and people dying in glorified cupboards.
“The Conservative Party’s shameful neglect brought us to this point but the Labour government’s failure to grasp the urgency of this disastrous situation has been shocking.
“Social care reform will not arrive for three years at the very earliest and new hospital projects will not be completed for decades.
“Patients cannot afford any more dither and delay on major reforms but that is what Ministers have condemned them to.”
