PAC New Hospitals: Ministers must come clean and apologise

18 Nov 2023

EMBARGO: 00:01 Friday 17th November

Responding to the embargoed Public Accounts Committee report which finds the government's New Hospital Programme will miss its targets, Liberal Democrat Health spokepserson Daisy Cooper MP said:

“This is a brutal assessment of the government’s flagship policy which exposes incompetence on an epic scale.

“Conservative Ministers must come clean and apologise for their broken promise to communities coping with crumbling hospitals.

“This report confirms the government is not serious about delivering their flagship NHS policy. The Conservative manifesto was simply not worth the paper it was written on.

“The Chancellor must announce emergency repair funds for ageing hospitals in his Autumn Statement next week.“
