Poll reveals voters want summer election to kick out Conservative government and fix NHS

Dissatisfaction with the current government is the top reason given by voters for backing an early General Election, a Savanta poll commissioned by the Liberal Democrats has revealed.

Of the UK adults who want a General Election before September 2024, 65% said it was due to dissatisfaction with the current government, 60% cited a desire for change in political leadership and 55% said they desired policy changes in healthcare and the NHS.

39% wanted an early election to end speculation about when the next General Election will be.

Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper MP said:

“People are desperate for a General Election so we can finally kick this chaotic Conservative government out of office.

“It’s time for Rishi Sunak to end the speculation, put people out of their misery and finally call this election.

“Fixing the NHS is top of people’s priorities, after years of crumbling hospitals and soaring waiting lists. The Liberal Democrats stand ready to beat Conservative MPs across the Blue Wall and deliver the change the country desperately needs."
