Record 8.5 million pensioners paying tax: Millions hammered by "Sunak's retirement tax"

Responding to the latest HMRC figures showing that a record 8.5 million pensioners are now income taxpayers, LiberalDemocrat Treasury spokesperson, Sarah Olney said:

"Millions are being hammered by Rishi Sunak's retirement tax.

"The Conservative party have forced the elderly and hardworking families to pick up the tab for their disastrous management of the economy.

"People are sick to the back teeth of paying through the nose all whilst being stuck on endless waiting lists, forced to watch filthy sewage pumped into our rivers and seas, and their mortgage payments go through the roof.

"On July 4th, voters know that in many areas of the country it is only the Liberal Democrats who can get rid of Conservative MPs and bring the change we desperately need."
