Record high waiting list is "watershed moment"
EMBARGO: Immediate Release
Responding to the news that the number of people waiting to start routine hospital treatment has reached a record high of 7.47 million, Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson Daisy Cooper said:
"This should be a watershed moment for this Conservative Government. This shows another empty pledge from Rishi Sunak placed on the scrap heap of broken promises.
"More than 1 in 10 people in our country are now waiting for routine hospital treatment, with millions of them now too sick to work.
"Conservative ministers should hang their heads in shame - or better still, step aside.
"The Conservatives are failing to sort out the crisis facing the NHS and social care and people’s health and our economy is paying the price for it."
