EMBARGO: IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Following a PMQ from Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Olney, Rishi Sunak has refused to back Liberal Democrat calls to ban house repossessions and evictions over the Christmas period. Commenting, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Sarah Olney said:

“The Prime Minister’s refusal to guarantee nobody will be forced out of their home this winter is absolutely disgraceful.

“This Conservative Government crashed the economy, sent interest rates spiralling and now ordinary people are paying the price.

“Rishi Sunak must reverse this heartless decision, temporarily ban repossessions and evictions this Christmas, and put an end to this Dickensian nightmare.”
