The Government have taken too long to address police vetting, says Lib Dems
EMBARGO: 00.01 Thursday 31st August
Commenting on the Home Office's announcement on the sacking of rogue officers, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson Alistair Carmichael MP said:
"It's right that the Government is addressing many of the cracks in police vetting and misconduct procedures - but it's a disgrace that it's taken so long in the first place.
"Being able to sack corrupt officers swiftly is a key step in rebuilding public trust in the police. Now, the Home Office must ensure that these new rules are properly enforced."
