The Govt should get "a grip" on crumbling school buildings
EMBARGO: Immediate Release
Commenting on the news that a beam collapse prompted a warning to schools over concrete safety, the Liberal Democrats Spokersperson for Education, Munira Wilson MP said:
"Parents will be horrified that Ministers are now having to justify learning in propped-up classrooms.
"The truth is that we should never have got to this point. The Government has known about this crumbling concrete for years, but time and again has denied our children the money needed to stop schools from collapsing completely.
"Every propped-up classroom roof is a concrete sign of Conservative neglect of our school buildings. Pupil safety is paramount - it's time the Government got a grip to remove risky RAAC."
