Travel chaos: The government should pay compensation within 24 hours to all those affected

Commenting on the continuing travel chaos at UK airports, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Wera Hobhouse MP said:
"This situation is an utter catastrophe for so many whose end of the summer holidays have been completely ruined.
"It would only be another slap in the face if passengers were left out of pocket through no fault of their own.
"It is the government's system that has failed and they should be the ones paying out compensation to all those affected.
"This should be within 24 hours of a flight being cancelled to ensure passengers do not gave to bear the costs for a moment longer than necessary."
