The Local Party Executives of Camden Liberal Democrats and Haringey Liberal Democrats invite applications for selection as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency of Hampstead & Highgate.

You are invited to apply to lead the Hampstead & Highgate Liberal Democrat team into the next General Election, currently scheduled for 2029. We are looking for a strong campaigner who could commit to standing and campaigning hard for a sustained campaign into the next General Election, or who can pivot to a short intense by-election campaign should one be
called.

We believe our active local teams, historic Liberal Democrat strength, high Remain vote, and declining Conservative and Labour support in the area provides an excellent opportunity for a strong showing in the seat in 2029.

Applicants should send a personal manifesto which should comprise no more than two sides of A4 to the Returning Officer together with a note of their contact details - David McBride, 35 Nurstead Road, Erith, Kent DA8 1LS

The personal manifesto will be used as copy for a colour pdf, or black and white printed copy, in the mailing to all local party members, should the applicant be shortlisted.

Applicants may wish to declare any protected characteristics and any specific needs for which reasonable adjustments should be made during the selection process. This information will be confidential to the Returning Officer except insofar as is necessary to allow reasonable adjustments to be made.

Applications must be received by the Returning officer by 11:59pm on Friday 18 April 2025, but if you are considering applying, then please contact the Returning Officer as soon as possible in order to receive an information pack. 

The members’ meeting for the candidate (‘the hustings’) within the London Borough of Camden, will be scheduled for between 3-10 May 2025 (tbc; venue availability). Online hustings will be scheduled for the week commencing 12 May.

Applicants whose names are not on the Party’s list of Approved Candidates as at the closing date for applications will not be guaranteed consideration for selection. It is the responsibility of applicants to check that their applications have been received by the Returning Officer by the closing date.
