Campaign and Communications Intern

ALDC is a membership organisation that provides advice, resources and training for Liberal Democrats councillors and campaigners.

Along with partner local parties in Greater Manchester, we are excited to be offering an intern programme for people looking to take their first steps in a political career.

You will be working with experienced campaigners and councillors in the Liberal Democrats to lead campaigning in local communities and providing a range of services to ALDC’s members.

The post is 35hours a week, including some evening and weekend work and is based in our central Manchester office and in locations around Greater Manchester. This is a fixed term position until June 2026.

Benefits include remuneration at the UK Living Wage dependent on age, inclusion in ALDC’s pension scheme after three-months, flexible and hybrid working and 25days holiday for full time members of staff.

Work experience

We have regular volunteer work experience opportunities in our Ancoats office in central Manchester throughout the year.

These are usually for a week or two full-time, or they could take place as a specified day/s for a number of weeks working on a specific project.

The positions are unpaid but we cover expenses.

If you’re looking to learn then all we ask is that you share our values of an open, tolerant and united Britain (active Liberal Democrat members will be given priority for placement).

Internship opportunities

ALDC has a proud record of hosting some of the brightest and best as interns.

Our paid internship positions last for one year and are based at ALDC HQ in Ancoats, central Manchester.

Interns learn about campaigning and planning; and work on office tasks at ALDC.
