The opportunity
Josh Babarinde is the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Eastbourne.
Josh and the Eastbourne Lib Dems are on the hunt for a show-stopping Campaign Officer to help power their campaign and to put the Lib Dems front and centre for the County elections in May.
Your key responsibilities as Eastbourne Lib Dems’ Campaign Officer
Project manage the campaign
You’ll make sure Josh and the Eastbourne Lib Dems Campaign Plan to win County Council seats across Eastbourne is delivered on-time and in-budget, working closely with our staff team and seasoned campaigners. You’ll run a tight ship.
Produce hard-hitting campaign comms
You’ll craft powerful leaflets, letters, emails and press releases to inspire voters, donors and supporters with Lib Dem campaign messages. You don’t need to be a graphic design pro, don’t worry - you’ll work from some templates and we can train you up to design leaflets from scratch too. You’ll also co-ordinate the printing of campaign leaflets at our print hub and externally.
Push the Lib Dem message to the public
You’ll plan and manage a rigorous schedule of campaign activity to get the Eastbourne Lib Dem message out to voters across every corner of Eastbourne. This’ll involve organising doorstep canvassing sessions, leaflet delivery sessions, mass telephoning to voters and more - all powered by our volunteers.
Power-up our army of activists
You’ll run training to arm our volunteers with the skills, tips and tricks they need to make an impact when meeting voters on the doorsteps. You’ll work with our Volunteer Coordinator to recruit talented and committed new activists into the Lib Dem campaign.
Provide data-driven campaign advice
Drawing on insights from local surveys, opinion polling and your sharp political antennae, you’ll inject your advice into the campaign to help make the decisions we need to win.
Key things we’re after from you
You know how to get things done
You’re hot on deadlines, making sure team members know what tasks they need to do, and at keeping track of a budget. You’ve got experience managing a project with lots of strands. You might even be a fan of project management tools like Monday.com.
You can fire up passionate volunteers
You’ve got the enthusiasm and empathy to motivate our team of activists to campaign on the doorsteps. You will work closely with our ward teams and leads, building capacity and relationships with key stakeholders. You might have experience recruiting, managing or training volunteers.
You’re a wordsmith with an eye for design
You’ve got experience writing material that wins hearts and minds. With sharp attention to detail, you know what makes an engaging and informative leaflet. A bonus would be experience using desktop publishing tools.
You can multitask with ease
You’re organised enough to manage lots of simultaneous demands from volunteers, the rest of the campaign team and Josh without losing your cool, losing sight of your goals, nor losing your magic touch. Any event-organising experience you have would be great evidence of this.
You care enough to get stuck right in
You’re invested in our mission to turf out the Conservatives and drive positive change locally and nationally. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
