Job Title: Campaign Organiser x2 – Twickenham and Richmond Park

Working For: Twickenham and Richmond Liberal Democrats

Location: SW London (working from our HQs in Mortlake and Twickenham)

Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 per annum, depending on experience and reviewed on an annual basis.

Length of Contract: Permanent roles subject to probationary review after 6 months

Job Details

  • Lead the volunteer recruitment and capacity building/retainment processes in one of our two held constituencies (Twickenham or Richmond Park) to ensure we have a motivated and well-trained volunteer network of deliverers, canvassers and clerical helpers.
  • Contribute to the literature schedule planning and provide key input to copy editing, design, proofing and approval, and print and distribution of regular art-worked leaflets, direct mail letters and emails to members, supporters and voters.
  • Campaign budgeting and financial management in liaison with the Treasurer/ Election Agents.
  • Work closely with our other Campaign Organiser and complement, reinforce and provide cover for each other’s skills, expertise and specific responsibilities agreed on appointment; you must be willing and keen to undertake regional and federal training opportunities, and gain experience of campaigning in parliamentary and key council by-elections and local elections.
  • Receive on-the-job training and mentoring support from our highly experienced Campaign Consultant and contribute to Campaign Strategy and Operations within our highly developed and successful Campaign Committee structure
  • Plan and coordinate member and volunteer training, volunteer and capacity-building action days and constituency events.
  • Designing and delivering an ongoing programme of communication to champion Liberal Democrat policy and achievements across Richmond upon Thames and the SW London GLA Constituency.
  • Coordinate and support membership recruitment and engagement strategy in order to achieve the Local Party's membership targets (we are one of the largest LD local parties in the UK)
  • Liaise with Local Party executive officers and ward teams to coordinate events and activities.
  • Coordinate and support publicity for events and activities and coordinate TRLD .media releases.
  • Work effectively with our two MPs (Sarah Olney and Munira Wilson) and their staff and SWL GLA Member (Gareth Roberts); the Campaign Committee Chair for the 2026 London Local Elections (where we are aiming for a third consecutive term in LB Richmond upon Thames) and our 49 current Councillors.
  • Undertake such other duties as the team may require to further effective communication, campaigning and organisation across Richmond Borough and North Kingston wards of Richmond Park and in neighbouring Surrey seats and councils, particularly around election times.
     

Person Specification:


Essential:

  • Well-organised and motivated
  • Relish working in a high-paced and often ambitious environment where taking responsibility and leadership are key.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to lead, mobilise and manage volunteers. Able to work independently with limited supervision, self-motivation and able to manage your own workload.
  • Able to design and write effective content and attractive campaign literature (email & print literature) working with our own Print Society, external Printers and fulfilment houses and direct mail partners and our ward delivery networks.
  • Familiarity with current issues within UK politics and sympathy with the values and principles of the Liberal Democrats.
  • Professionalism and discretion.
  • To work with Liberal Democrat staff from the London Region, English Party, other local parties and HQ as required.
  • Able to be in Twickenham & Richmond (including on some weekend Action Days) and travel around the area either by own vehicle or public transport (mileage refunded and/or Zone 4/5 monthly Oyster Card reimbursement)


Desirable:

  • Any prior experience with campaigning or recruiting, managing and motivating volunteers.
  • Any prior experience with any desktop publishing tools, notably Affinity Publisher.
  • Ability to learn and work with our systems – e.g. Connect, Lighthouse (voter, volunteer and member databases) and Fleet (website management and bulk-email delivery).
  • Ability to work with and understand how social media can play a part in political campaigning.
  • Appreciation of GDPR, data protection and other laws and regulations relevant to political campaigning (Electoral Commission) and the work of MPs (IPSA) and the London Assembly.
