We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual with the ability to inspire and motivate volunteers and key local stakeholders.
You will be responsible for recruiting, training and mobilising volunteers. A large part of this job will be meeting, and making a lot of phone calls to, existing as well as potential volunteers. You should be confident doing this and have excellent verbal communication skills.
You will have a helpful and approachable outlook and will motivate and inspire volunteers, councillors, candidates, and campaigners that you are working with.
Building strong relationships with volunteers will be a key to success in this role.
You will also be expected to produce regular metrics and report against your targets.
Ideal position for someone who wants experience working in politics or campaigns.
Experience of political campaigning is not a prerequisite for this role. We are interested in applicants from all backgrounds and with different kinds of past work and life experience. This role would particularly suit people with strong customer services or sales experience as well as those looking to get started in political campaigning.
Priorities will be set by the North Norfolk and Great Yarmouth local party, and the role will report to the Federal Party Campaign Manager for the East of England.
Key Responsibilities:
● Recruiting new volunteers – you will spend a lot of your time phoning or doorknocking volunteer prospects provided to you, mobilising them and finding a home for them within the wider campaign infrastructure.
● Working with volunteers – you will train and manage volunteers. You will build strong relationships with volunteers throughout the campaign and identify volunteer leaders.
● Supporting councillors and candidates - councillors are the bedrock of our local success and part of the role will involve building relationships with this diverse, busy, group, to ensure they are communicating their work to their current and future target wards.
● Running campaign sessions – you will organise and run campaign sessions where volunteers will talk to voters.
● Targets and metrics - you will have a set of targets that will be regularly reviewed between you and your line manager.
● Reporting – you will ensure that you report data accurately and promptly to your line manager and into the Lib Dem voter and volunteer database.
● Working with key campaigners – you will need to develop good relationships with other key Lib Dem campaigners and staff working in your area.
