Job Title: Campaign Manager
Salary: £27,000-£32,000 per annum
Hours: Full time
Location: Kingston Liberal Democrat Office: 21 Berrylands Road, Surbiton. Some occasional home working in discussion with line manager.
Closing Date: Noon on Friday 15th November 2024
Key Responsibilities
1. Motivate, manage and support a strong team of volunteers;
2. Help develop, manage and deliver a campaign plan for the borough and the
parliamentary seats, ensuring high quality literature is produced regularly to an agreed plan;
3. Support the MPs, council group and others with the production of press releases and liaison with the press when required;
4. Help lead the re-election campaign of Ed Davey in Kingston and Surbiton, supporting the campaign team to deliver winning campaigns in the party leader’s seat, whilst also co-ordinating campaigning with nearby Lib Dem constituencies, especially Richmond Park and Wimbledon;
5. Work with volunteers and parliamentary staff to make sure the Kingston Liberal Democrat website and Ed Davey MPs website are kept up to date and used as part of an effective digital campaigning strategy;
6. Work with councillors and ward organisers to ensure a strong team of volunteers across the borough. Help plan a program of ongoing work to grow the number of volunteers and members;
7. Ensure all databases are kept up to date, maintain volunteer records and working delivery rounds, and train volunteers to provide lists and VPBs for canvassing and GOTV;
8. Report back to the MPs, campaign team, local party executive and Liberal Democrat HQ on campaign stats, progress, expenditure, etc.;
9. Help set up the canvassing programme and action days, including preparation of lists using the parties Connect system;
10. Help and train new Liberal Democrat candidates and volunteers to develop the skills and motivation to campaign effectively and to be part of the campaign through attendance at training and meetings;
11. Ensure good communications and relationships between the LDHQ Campaigns & Election Directorate, the MPs and key stakeholders – including candidates, local councillors and members of the campaign team;
12. Overseeing correspondence (email, post and phone messages) and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the local party office, Including ensuring equipment is kept in good condition and the operation is election
ready.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
You’ll be a confident person, with strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships. You’ll beat ease with the latest online and offline campaign techniques.
Ideally, you will have been part of multiple successful election campaigns and have a strong understanding of what it takes to win.
You will be able to demonstrate a record of election, fundraising and capacity-building success, with an instinctive sense of what makes an effective political message.
You will have sound political judgement and an in-depth understanding of voters. You will be well organised and able to work without supervision in a challenging environment.
A good temperament that allows you to deal with the unexpected is a must. You must also show a willingness to innovate, experiment, and share best practice.This role will suit someone who enjoys variety in their work and working with volunteers from a wide variety of different backgrounds.
Essential Skills and Experience
1. Experience of working and managing election campaigns
2. Strong political messaging and graphic design in the political context
3. Excellent organisational and planning skills
4. Experience of working with volunteers and the ability to inspire
and develop the skills of volunteers and staff
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills
6. A clear understanding of how to engage with members and voters
7. Confidence with data, CRM and digital campaign tools
8. Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats Desirable Skills and Experience
9. Experience of dealing with the press
10. Experience of fundraising
11. Experience of using the party’s Website tools (Fleet, Targeted Email etc), LibDem Connect and Affinity Publisher etc.
12. Experience of delivering training, coaching and mentoring
