Andrew George MP is seeking to recruit a Parliamentary Assistant to support him in Westminster.
Key responsibilities:
- Administrative support in Westminster.
- Contributing to diary management (under the supervision of the Office Manager).
- Prepare and present briefing notes for meetings, press releases, parliamentary questions etc.
- Develop knowledge of relevant legislation and upcoming business including motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc and how they impact on the constituency.
- Help draft amendments for reports and prepare briefing material.
- Work with colleagues in the constituency to identify potential impacts from research.
- Respond to correspondence, including on policy.
- Undertake relevant research.
- Efficient data management to ensure compliance with data protection legislation.
- Some work outside of normal working hours and occasional travel, including to the constituency, may be required.
Skills required:
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage a large, complex and fast-moving workload.
• A positive attitude towards working as part of a small team, as well as the ability to work independently.
• Strong IT skills and the ability and willingness to quickly get to grips with new systems and novel approaches to delivering an MP’s digital services.
• A professional manner and the ability to speak sensitively to people who may be experiencing challenging personal circumstances.
• Knowledge of current events in the St Ives constituency.
Knowledge of Parliamentary procedures would be an advantage, but training can be provided.
The postholder may be required to occasionally work outside of normal working hours.

Pay will be in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
