Job Title:             Campaign Assistant (South East Region)

Responsible to:  Head of Campaigns (UK)

Salary:                £26,527.00 per annum pro rata

Hours:                 Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

Contract:        Fixed Term (to 31st May with the possibility of extension)

Location:            Home based with some travel around the region 

Purpose of the Job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for the Liberal Democrats in the South East Region.

This is an ideal position for someone who is looking to help solidify the success of the Liberal Democrats, develop their campaign skills, and increase their experience working on elections at all levels. 

At the 2024 General Election the Liberal Democrats had significant success, electing 12 new MPs in the region. With Council Elections this May there is a huge opportunity for further growth within the region.

You will provide support to campaign staff within the region and help teams on the ground deliver their winning plans.

Job Description

  • Work closely with MPs and key stakeholders in the region to deliver election wins in May
  • Lead on member communication and mobilisation of activists within the region
  • Lead on supporting campaigns in a small number of strategically important council wards in the Region including managing volunteers, supporting literature production and use of social media
  • Provide administrative support to the South East Region Campaign Managers
  • Lead on organising regional staff days and regional training days as directed by the Regional Campaigns Managers
  • Be responsible for collecting and processing data to help with campaigns
  • Work as part of the wider campaign team to proactively follow-up actions and be responsive to member queries.

Personal Specification

The following criteria are considered essential:

  • Exceptional personal organisation.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, mobilise and manage volunteers.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, self-motivating and able to manage own workload.
  • Familiarity with current issues within UK politics and sympathy with the values and principles of the Liberal Democrats.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.

The following criteria are desirable:

  • Experience in delivering effective Liberal Democrat campaigns.
  • Experience of Liberal Democrat software and databases (e.g. Affinity Publisher, Fleet & Connect)
