Finance, Compliance & Admin Officer
The Finance, Compliance & Admin Officer will be a key member of the Major Donor Fundraising Team at Lib Dem HQ.
The Finance, Compliance & Admin Officer will manage donation data, entering gift information into our databases. This will involve working with our Compliance Team to check the eligibility of donors and to prepare reports for the Electoral Commission. The successful applicant will help the Head of Fundraising and Fundraising Director to prepare a budget outlining potential income prior to each financial year and make sure actual income is accurately recorded for financial management.
This new recruit will work closely with all the members of a close knit and successful fundraising team. This is a vital role which is critical to the work of the whole team.
Finance and compliance
- Accurately record incoming donations daily in the relevant databases and budget sheets.
- Check that donations above £500 meet our compliance requirements and return ineligible donations.
- Work with the Compliance Team to make sure our quarterly reports on donations to the Electoral Commission are accurate.
- Prepare due diligence profiles on our larger donors to ensure we reject donations where there are ethical concerns.
- Ensure gifts-in-kind and auction prizes are accurately recorded for compliance purposes.
- Help to prepare our annual budgeting process - updating, monitoring and improving our financial reporting sheets.
- Clean our data regularly in line with GDPR rules (removing data where there is no longer consent).
- Prepare reports for our Finance Committee
Admin tasks
- Attend and take minutes at Fundraising Board meetings.
- Production of agendas and papers for team meetings, Fundraising Board meetings, and members’ club board meetings.
- Support the organisation of events for our donors and prospects by booking venues and speakers.
- Manage the LinkedIn profile of our Treasurer to maximise outreach.
- Prepare income reports for our Federal Board meetings.
Person Specification, Skills and Experience
- Data enthusiast with strong administrative skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Assertive, responsible self-starter.
- High degree of accuracy in typing, excellent attention to detail and numbers.
- Ability to process and record data with focus and accuracy.
- Excellent IT skills and the motivation to become an expert in the advanced features of our databases.
- Ability to collaborate with our Finance Team and Compliance Team as well as working on tasks with different members of the
- Fundraising Team.
- Familiarity with PPERA would be ideal.
- Experience using Google Sheets and/or Excel
- Familiarity with GDPR would be ideal.
- Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce or similar software would be ideal.
- An interest in politics and sympathy with the aims of the Lib Dems.
