Job Title: Fundraising Team Assistant

Responsible to: Head of Fundraising

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 

Hours: Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Hybrid: approx 3-4 days in Lib Dem HQ

Probation: 3 months

 

The Fundraising Assistant will be an integral member of the Major Donor Fundraising Team at Lib Dem HQ, ensuring the team functions optimally and ultimately reaches its financial objectives.

The Fundraising Assistant will lead on all administrative aspects of the team’s operation, including: finance, data, compliance, brief writing and events assistance.

The successful applicant will be eager to join a fast-paced working environment. They will have a keen eye to detail and will take pride in streamlining processes and ensuring they are adhered to. 

This is an entry level role with room for growth within the team for the successful applicant, performance permitting.

This new recruit will work closely with all the members of a close knit and successful fundraising team.  This is a vital role which is critical to the work of the whole team.

Finance, data and compliance

  • Accurately record incoming donations, gifts-in-kind and auction prizes in databases and budget sheets, adhering to compliance and GDPR rules.
  • Work with the Compliance Team on quarterly reporting to the Electoral Commission & clean our data regularly in line with GDPR rules (removing data where there is no longer consent).
  • Help to prepare our annual budgeting process and prepare reports for our Finance Committee.
  • Manage all databases ensuring donor data is correctly stored.
  • Manage the onboarding process of all new donor club members.


Political briefs

  • Lead on writing briefs for all fundraising events and meetings, including biographical information for donor 1:1s, speaking points for donor events and due diligence profiles on our larger donors.
  • Liaise with key teams including the Leader’s Office to ensure briefs are received in a timely manner.
  • Draft all briefs for donor club events - including speaking points, and lead on fundraising dinner briefs, ensuring all have up to date donor bios.

Events, comms & admin tasks

  • Attend and take minutes at Fundraising and Donor Club Board meetings.
  • Produce agendas and papers for team meetings, Fundraising Board meetings, and members’ club board meetings.
  • Support the organisation of events for our donors and prospects by booking venues and speakers and delivering the events on site.
  • Assist with drafting and sending regular newsletters to our donor community.
  • Establish & manage social media accounts for our team, advertising events and maximising outreach.

Person Specification, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Excellent administrative skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Confident, responsible self-starter.
  • High degree of accuracy in processing and recording written and numerical data, excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills and the motivation to become an expert in the advanced features of our databases.
  • Ability to work with multiple members of the fundraising team and the wider organisation at HQ and in Parliament.

Desirable

  • Experience using Google Sheets and/or Excel.
  • Familiarity with GDPR would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
  • Experience working on in person events.
  • An interest in politics and sympathy with the aims of the Lib Dems.
