Job Title:             Media team intern (conference) 

Responsible to:   Head of Media 

Salary:                National Living Wage

Hours:                 10 hours per day, 5 working days (13-17 September)

Tenure:               The duration of Autumn conference 

Location:           Brighton

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Liberal Democrat Media team in the first conference since the party won a record number of MPs. 

This role is suited for someone looking to gain experience of a fast paced media environment in a political setting. The interns will work with the media team as they generate broadcast and print coverage during the party’s Autumn conference in Brighton. 

This role is for five working days only and is based in Brighton. On top of their regular pay, interns will be provided accommodation and meal expenses. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the media team with day-to-day tasks
     
  • Help manage the media team email inbox and phone-line system to ensure prompt responses to journalists over a busy weekend 
  • Monitor media coverage and daily news programmes
     
  • Assist MP photo opportunities and media events
     
  • Produce daily briefings for parliamentarians and the Leader’s Office
